 About Us:(Who we are, what we do, and why we love it!)
Str8way ministries has been in existence for approximately 5 years and in that time we have served both in the United States and abroad. Our desire is to serve the poorest of the poor and at the same time inspire those here in the States to help fulfill the Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20) in our lifetimes.
We feel God has given Str8way a vision to focus on three specific issues:
One is to challenge our peers of all ages to examine the obstacles that they are confronted with in their walk with the LORD! We feel that by embracing a life of positive growth in Christ we can develop effective leaders for the Kingdom. By taking small groups to Nicaragua, Kenya, Mexico, and elsewhere, we endeavor to bring individuals out of their usual routines and distractions. It is in these situations that we have seen an increased desire to press in and know our Savior!
Second, we pray that each group that goes will be encouraged to use their lives to impact the world around them. This means supporting local pastors, orphanages, missionaries and other Christ focused organizations!
Third, we intend to return to the areas we are invested in to ensure that the relationships established are perpetually strengthened and that the quality of life is improved. Currently we are seeking God to determine if there are other areas to expand the reach of God's ministry through Str8way.
We initiate devotions, teach on crucial elements of growth, work at orphanages, children’s schools and in the surrounding villages. We hope to help them with education, vocational skills, provisions and improvements in their living conditions. Rather than just doing work and leaving we try to give instruction and involve the local people so that they can develop a more sustainable lifestyle. By doing this we open hearts to the good news of Jesus.
So far the impact has been tremendous, both to the orphans and villagers as well as to us as a ministry. The exciting thing is that many of those whom have ventured with us are continually seeking out ways to serve God. Through tears when we depart, the children and villagers ask "Are you coming back?" We answer with a resounding, "Yes!" Str8way is committed to investing in these areas on a long term basis so that we develop lasting relationships with them.
In addition, God has been burdening our hearts and opening doors to serve in Disaster Relief. It is here that we often find fertile ground for allowing God to work through us and show people, in a crisis situation, that there is hope! That hope is Jesus Christ!
